The Awards

What?

The Legend Awards was established to recognise people who have made significant contributions within their fields of expertise on a national and/or international level.

The awards will be conferred in over twenty categories including, but, not limited to, Health, Chieftaincy, Entrepreneurship, Politics, Security Forces, Football, Music, Film and Entertainment.

For a complete listing please see Award Categories

Why?

Two main reasons:

Recognition. At the Legend Awards, we believe that individuals should be rewarded for their professional achievements both at home and in the wider Sierra Leonean diaspora.

Many Sierra Leoneans have done outstanding things, but remain nameless, and so, one of our primary goals is to recognise and honour the hard work, dedication and commitment of these remarkable Sierra Leoneans. It is, therefore, hoped that those being rewarded will appreciate the gesture from the Legend Awards company.

Inspiration. One of the major challenges of development is the lack of role models, so we hope that the Legend Awards will inspire future generations of Sierra Leoneans to greatness, by exposing them to the stories of people who, because of their achievements, qualify as bona fide Salone legends.

Who?

Legends can be living or may have passed away; they may be well known or quiet achievers. For example the late Bunny Mac was well known in the national and international entertainment industry, while Sanpha Koroma, founder of Union Trust Bank, the only indigenously owned private bank in Sierra Leone, is not well known to many, but deserves recognition for his ground breaking initiative.

How?

The Legend Awards Panel for 2020 is headed by Kobi Walker, the MD of NP (SL) Ltd and he will be ably assisted by other carefully chosen industry professionals, who will remain anonymous to avoid any form of coercion.

Mr. Walker and the panel will select the honorees from a shortlist of names generated through public nominations. The public will then have a chance to vote for those official nominees so that winners can be selected.

It is worth noting that winners will not reflect those who achieve the highest number of votes, but rather, the voting figures will be juxtaposed against the overall achievements of each Legend Awards nominee.
