Trade Facilitation – NRA License Committee Engage Customs Brokers

The National Revenue Authority on Thursday 17th August 2017 in continuation of their efforts towards improving quality service delivery for importers and exporters doing business in the country in an accomplishment of the License Committee Mandate to help capacitate the operations and activities of Clearing and Forwarding Agencies before commencing of the renewal process has concluded a one day interactive session at Theresa Sesay Hall in Freetown on the Brokers Licensing Registration Process.


Dr. Sheku Kamara, the Chairman of the Licensing Committee from the National Revenue Authority (NRA), informed the Customs Brokers that their operation is critical to the work of the NRA revenue mobilization drive and that regulation of the Clearing and Forwarding Agencies in Sierra Leone remains key for Trade Facilitation. A certification ceremony of Agents was recently held at the Family Kingdom in Freetown in accomplishment of the License Committee Mandate, the final Stage of the assignment given by the Commissioner General of NRA Madam Haja Kallah Kamara before the full commencement for Clearing and Forwarding Agencies’ licence renewal process for certified customs brokers.


He added that the purpose of the induction program is for the Brokers to feel welcomed into the Profession, be respected and be made to feel more comfortable in the execution of the process, and to also find it easier to integrate into the trade.
Speaking on behalf of Clearing and forwarding Agencies, the Vice President for the Association of Clearing and Forwarding Agencies Mr. Ibrahim Bashiru Kamara in his statement praised the efforts of the Commissioner General and team in restructuring the Clearing and Forwarding Sector and described the training as a brilliant initiative that will help Customs Brokers in terms of quality service delivery.
One of the certified participants, the Managing Director for MHS FREIGHT SERVICES Mr. Musa Hassan Sankoh, in an interview described the training as timely, noting it will help them greatly and help improve government revenue mobilization drive.
