Ghanaian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Charles Owiredu today (Monday 24 April, 2017) visited President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma at State House in Freetown. The special envoy, according to Sierra Leone’s Minister of State 1 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr Mohamed Gibril Sesay, is in the country to convey a special message from the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo who desires to visit Sierra Leone on June 2nd this year.
Responding, President Koroma welcomed the envoy and team, stating that he has a strong personal relationship with President Nana Akufo-Addo and that his proposed visit to Sierra Leone will not only continue to build on their personal relationship but will also strengthen the bilateral ties between Sierra Leone and Ghana. He promised to return the visit to his counterpart in Ghana after the June 2nd date is confirmed. He hoped the timing doesn’t coincided with the forthcoming African Union summit.
