Moroccan Envoy Discusses Bilateral Relations with President Julius Maada Bio

State House, Freetown, Wednesday 11 September 2019 – Ambassador and General Director of the Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) in the Kingdom of Morocco, Mohamed Methqal, has met with His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio at State House to discuss bilateral cooperation.

Presenting the delegation, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nabeela Tunis, said the team was on a scoping mission in the country and to conduct some investigations around several sectors that would deepen bilateral cooperation. She added that the essence of the meeting with State House was to have a first-hand experience of what could be offered to the various sectors.

In his statement, Ambassador Methqal expressed gratitude to the government of Sierra Leone for the warm welcome, saying that the visit was very important for the Kingdom of Morocco. He said they were in the country to work with the government, to contribute and foster the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in different sectors, adding that the visit would provide a new momentum that would build on the bilateral agenda between the two countries.

In his response, President Julius Maada Bio thanked the government of Morocco for the visit. He said the two countries were friends with good relationship and that the visit was a very important step to widen the relationship between the two countries.

He stated that in the past Sierra Leone had some support from the Kingdom of Morocco for which he expressed his appreciation. The President added that he was delighted the delegation was in the country to look at important areas of interventions as part of strengthening the relationship. He assured of his support to widen the ties between the two countries.
