Breaking: Former communications minister, Mohamed Bangura has just called to tell me that he’s on his way to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC). He said he’d been invited relating to the payment of $300,000 to his ministry by SALCAB. He admitted that the said amount was indeed paid into his ministry’s account but that it was almost immediately withdrawn by the then Permanent Secretary on the orders of SALCAB themselves who took the money away. SALCAB is alleged to have defrauded the state of $ 4 million between 2015 and 2018, according to a special technical audit released yesterday. The then MD and the Board Chairman of the institution were picked up yesterday by the police on the orders of the ACC.
