Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr and the Mayor of Charleston John Tecklenburg officially signed A Charleston Freetown Sister Cities International Partnership

The Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr and the Mayor of Charleston John Tecklenburg have officially signed a Charleston Freetown Sister Cities International Partnership between the two cities.

This partnership is designed to foster and strengthen the long formed relationship between Charleston and Freetown. Through exchanges between both cities, this partnership aims to promote the development of new economic, tourism, academic, community and civic programs.

The signing took place at the Charleston City Hall and was witnessed by Michael Boulware Moore, CEO of the International African American Museum (IAAM) and the CEO of the Charleston Sister Cities International; Neita A. Weise. It was a successful event and we look forward to the amazing opportunities this partnership will provide for both cities. #TranformFreetown
