INNOVATION FOR EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT (IFED) IN GHANA RECOGNIZES THE ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION AS ONE OF THE LEADING ANTI-CORRUPTION CRUSADERS ACROSS AFRICA
The Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Francis Ben Kaifala Esq, today, August 21st, 2019 received a recognition on behalf of the ACC from Innovation for Empowerment and Development (IFED), an organization based in Ghana at his 3 Gloucester Street Office in Freetown. The presentation which was done by the International Youth Diplomacy Conference (IYDC) 2019 Sierra Leone chapter, a brainchild of IFED, handed over a frame containing a citation for the ACC:
You have distinguished yourself in the fight and pursuit of a corruption free Africa…
You have not done so in isolation but remained committed to partnering with young people to fight this course…
We are grateful for the support and interest in the growth and development of young people in Africa…

Speaking at the presentation, the Country Representative for IYDC-SL Chapter, Abdul Kpaka expressed his delight, adding that the recognition was received from IFED on behalf of the ACC in July 2019 while attending the International Youth Diplomacy Conference in Ghana. He also disclosed that the recognition comes in the wake of the intervention of the Anti-Corruption Commission in recovering $1,200 (one thousand two hundred United States Dollars) in 2018, from a Sierra Leonean who had misappropriated IYDC delegate funds that year.
“Mr. Kargbo’s action disqualified Sierra Leonean Delegates from IYDC 2018 in Ghana, but with the efforts of the ACC, the funds were swiftly recovered and has since being transferred to IYDC on behalf of Innovation for Empowerment and Development,” Mr. Kpaka added.

Esq, head of the Sierra Leone Anti- Corruption Commission expressed his
satisfaction over the acknowledgment and thanked the cross section of
IYDC-2019 Sierra Leone Chapter delegates for their goodwill and stamina,
maintaining that the recognition is not only for himself or the ACC but
for the youths and all Africans who remain committed to the fight
“This recognition is not only for the ACC, but all young persons doing amazing work to promote accountability and transparency across Africa”, he concluded.
This recognition is an international recognition of the effectiveness of ACC’s non-conviction based asset recovery in Africa which was beneficial to people even in far away lands like Ghana.
