Ladies & Gentlemen, I have been tied up doing research work hence my silence from this Wall on the Commission Of Inquiry issues. This is a however a quick but highly important update. I will send a comprehensive report on the proceedings so far later. For now, read below.
I AM VERY PROUD OF MELRON NICOL WILSON – SAYS DR. SYLVIA BLYDEN OOR.
Melron Nicol Wilson is an excellent lawyer and I am very proud of his services to me so far. Melron continues to be my Legal Adviser on the matter now in front of the Commissions Of Inquiry. The reason why I have taken over the matter is because the learned Judge, Hon. Justice Bankole Thompson has asked for the matter to proceed speedily and with assignment of only 1 hour and 15 minutes for cross examination of witnesses.
The truth is that the Orders of the Hon. Judge for a Summary of the Case and all Witness Statements to be served on me, were NOT complied with.
It is ONLY now this morning that Witnesses are being presented abruptly. The State Counsel even wants to serve fresh materials on me within few seconds of putting Witnesses on the Stand.
There is no way any lawyer, no matter how brilliant that lawyer, can effectively cross examine such Witnesses and Evidence presented so abruptly as the Lawyer will need to be briefed by me on the fresh data so he can cross examine with full background information.
In the absence of such courtesy time frame granted for me to instruct Melron prior to him cross examining such Witnesses, then it makes perfect sense for me, *as the person with the fullest knowledge of the issues,* to handle the cross examination of Witnesses.
I am very proud of Melron and at the same time, I am very confident of my abilities to represent myself in person, do the cross-examinations in person with Melron still serving as a Legal Adviser.
So let the proceedings proceed.
Thank you and please excuse all typographical errors. I could not proof read.
Accompanying photo is of me and Executive Members of the Sierra Leone Association of Ebola Survivors (SLAES), namely their President, their National Coordinator, their Spokesman and their Secretary General. Alongside sincere and truthful members of the Children’s Forum Network (CFN) during my tenure as Minister, there is also a massive display of support for me present here at the Commissions by the Ebola Survivors. As time goes on, the point connecting Ebola Survivors to allegations of Children being beaten up, will be made clearer.
