Happy International Youth Day
In 1999, in its resolution 54/120, the General Assembly endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth (Lisbon, 8-12 August 1998) that 12 August be declared International Youth Day.

The Assembly recommended that public information activities be organized to support the Day as a way to promote better awareness of the World Programme of Action for Youth, adopted by the General Assembly in 1995 (resolution 50/81).
International Youth Day is commemorated every year on 12 August. The Focal Point on Youth selects a theme for the day often with input from youth organizations and members of the UN Inter-Agency Network in Youth development.
It also organizes a commemoration of the Day at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Programme encourages youth around the world to organize activities to raise awareness about the situation of youth in their country.
The theme of International Youth Day 2019, “Transforming education”, highlights efforts to make education more relevant, equitable and inclusive for all youth, including efforts by youth themselves. Rooted in Goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” – International Youth Day 2019 will examine how Governments, young people and youth-led and youth-focused organizations, as well as other stakeholders, are transforming education and how these efforts are contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
H.E, upon the Theme for this Year, I will Personally Commend you for the Free Quality Education as the Major Beneficiaries are Youth. We just want the Quality aspect to be more Visible and also More attention to our Female Youth.
Our Local theme “ Transforming Education through Sustainable Development is timely and well placed and the 3 Days Activities are Impressive so far.
Finally Sir, We need the enabling environment to Strengthen the Public Private Partnership, that will greatly help to boost the sustainable economic development processes, and encourage more investments to possibly have at least One factory in each District.
H.E Sir, Please ensure that the stakeholders in the youth sector effectively Continue to Implement, Monitor, Evaluate & Fund Projects that are stated in the African Youth Charter Of 2006, SDG’s 2015-2030, AU Agenda 2063 and other Local Youth related Documents.
Mr. President we need to Strengthen the Inter-Ministerial aspect in the Sector and Monitor the Youth Desk In all MDA’s. I advice you serve as the Chairman and let’s Meet Every 6 Months. (Youth Leaders, the Media, MOYA, NAYCOM, NYS, Local Councils , Development Partners and other Key Players).
We express our profound thanks and appreciation to you for taking youth issues a priority for growth and development in Sierra Leone.
