Councillors on disaster preparedness and response led by the Deputy Mayor of Freetown

We just concluded another engagement session with Councillors on disaster preparedness and response, which was led by the Deputy Mayor of Freetown.

Councillors have been reminded of the specific steps that they should take before and immediately after disasters happen.

These steps include:
1. Identifying safe locations for high risk residents
2. Identifying individuals who should mobilize high risk residents who are at risk to safe locations when danger is imminent
3. Developing early warning systems that residents easily would recognize and respond to
4. Recording accurate data for FCC, ONS and other stakeholders to speed up the relief efforts for affected persons.

The engagement is part of the Standard Operating Procedures that Council has developed to identify and respond to emergencies in the city.
